Christmas Lights Go On...

ON 18 November 2007, Southport and Liverpool Christmas Lights where turned on. Despite the rain and the cold, the events where both entertaining for all who went. We picked to cover Liverpool's Light Switch On this year as it marked the start of the preparations for what will be an amazing New Year Eve event and the start of the cities year of being European Capital Of Culture. These are a few photographs of the event that had Atomic Kitten Natasha Hamilton, X-Factor stars Eton Road, Liverpool FC’s Jamie Carragher and Everton FC’s Victor Anichebe and also landing on the roof of North Entrance of St George’s Hall was Father Christmas, who abseiled down with the button to turn on the cities lights.

AT services on 11 November 2007 the following formal notice was read at St. Luke's, Formby, and in Ashton, Manchester.

The notice was as follows:- "The Rev Harvie Nicol, currently Priest in Charge St. Peter Ashton and Team Vicar in the parish of Ashton, Manchester, has been appointed as the next vicar of St Luke's Formby, to be instituted and inducted on 4 March 2008."

The reading of that notice brought to an end a search for a person to replace the Revd Canon Alison Woodhouse who retired at the end of April 2007.

Harvie is married to Sally They have two children, Heather who is a student in Edinburgh and Andrew.

The people of St. Luke's are delighted at the news, and very much look forward to the arrival of Harvey.

The service of induction on 4 March 2007, will be conducted by the Bishop of Warrington at St Luke's Church, Formby, Merseyside.  ---Useful web link---
