Liverpool International Music Festival Is A Hit
Photographs by Patrick Trollope.

THE replacement for the Mathews Street Festival was held over the August Bank Holiday (23 August to 25 August 2013) and was a huge success, despite being split into 2 locations of the City a good distance apart. The inaugural Liverpool International Music Festival or LIMF, might not have been as big as the previous event, but it was far more controlled as tens of thousands of people descended on the City, from parents with babies to grandparents, the mix attending and enjoying the music was quite staggering. Some businesses who have in previous years benefitted from the extra trade the last event brought in did say that they were disappointed as trade was down, other issues were with parking In the Sefton Park area, but overall the event was a lot safer and it will be interesting to see how it evolves.  Sefton Park was free to attend, but the Pier Head was not free and was ticketed. Events this year ranged from the opening night on Sefton Park with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, to the closing of the event, again on Sefton Park with the amazing Soul to Soul group. Other highlights of the festival were the acts on the Pier Head including Union J; Stooshe; Little Mix; JLS and Eliza Doolittle on the Saturday. Then on the Sunday, under the blue sky and the Liverbirds, the acts performing to a packed out Pair Head included the:- Humming Birds; Nina Nesbitt; Baby Blue; The Saturdays and Texas, just to name a few... We would like to say a big ‘well done’ to all who took part in this event, especially to the stewards from both Group 4 and Paramount Security. But we have to also congratulate the Red Cross who did a stunning job throughout the event. If you attended or have any views on this event, we would love to hear them, both good and bad. So please do email them to:- news24@southportreporter.com and let us know what you thought of this musical extravaganza. Plus we have put a few pictures on our Facebook Page. In our view it is essential you our readers help promote this fantastic event, so 2014's can be bigger and better, so get Facebooking and Twittering now and show your support for it!
