Christmas Lights Southport Are Now On!
Photograph by Patrick Trollope

SOUTHPORT Christmas Lights have been turned on with a fantastic 'Christmas Extravaganza.' The big button was pressed by X-Factor winner, Sam Bailey, who also performed live, on a large stage, to a packed out Lord Street. Festivities had been threatened by the weather, but the sun came out and the wind dropped, allowing the fun to take place. The annual festive event this year also had other stars, from local radio and even CBeebies star, Mr Bloom, taking part. Full photo coverage will be in next week's edition and some video highlights will be online, on our Facebook Page very soon! Please let us know what you thought of this event and the Formby Lights Switch-On.  Also do not forget that Southport will be holding lots of other festivities for people of all ages, through to New Year's Eve; more information in next week's issue on them as well. If you attended, please let us know what you thought of the event and if you have any activities planned on Merseyside to celebrate Christmas, please let us know. Email us to:- news24@southportreporter.com.

PLEASE NOTE as stated on the report pages, that this edition was updated on Monday, 23 November 2015.  We delayed a few reports in the last edition and the release in this edition as a mark of respect for the Paris Attack.  We felt that the reports might have upset some readers if included before then.  Our thoughts still go out with the people of Paris and all who have suffered loss from terrorism. Sorry we did not put this announcement on the main page before this update.
