LEGO® breaks World Record in Liverpool 1 Shopping Centre
Photographs by Patrick Trollope.

ON Wednesday, 17 May 2017, to celebrate the milestone of now balancing their energy usage worldwide with renewable energy produced through 2 wind farms, 1 of them installed in Liverpool Bay, the LEGO Group set the Guinness World Records? title of 'The Largest LEGO® Brick Wind Turbine.'

The build used over 246,251 LEGO Bricks and this impressive structure took 10 to 15 people, per shift, (with 3 shifts per day) and 600 man hours to complete! Over-seeing the build was Tim Brooks, who is the Vice President of Environment Responsibility and SMC, The LEGO Group.

The completed model was a LEGO
® reproduction of the Burbo Bank Extension wind farm 'Turbine,' that's located off the coast, in the Mersey Bay.

The connection to LEGO® and the wind farm is that LEGO® holds a 25% stake in it, making it the latest investment by the LEGO Group.

As the Lego installation was unveiled on Wednesday, 17 May 2017, with the Guinness World Records? conducting the final checks, a small number of local schools attended, along with LEGO
® Batman. Afterwards, Guinness World Records? gave talks and revealed that the build was a 'Record Breaker' the children then joined the LEGO Planet Crew for a morning of activities, within the Liverpool 1 Odeon. Then, in the afternoon, a mini build was held in the Liverpool 1 store.

Chris Bliss, Estate Director of Liverpool 1 took time out to take a look at the installation and said:- "This is fantastic! What an impressive build. I can't believe how big it is!" as he stood in front of the 'The Largest LEGO® Brick Wind Turbine."
